A New Site: Getting Noticed

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are in the process of creating a new online business: EarthDoggy.com. The site is almost ready for prime time. However, I am concerned that nobody will know that we exist.

How do we attract customers to our site? Also, any comments about the site iteself (layout, content) is appreciated.

Divide the potential market into two groups. Those you know by email address, name, job title, organisation, etc. and those that are potential visitors but you have no contact details for. Contact the first group, by email or direct mail, to let them know about your site (give them the web URL address) and maybe give them some good reason to visit the site. Add your website URL to your business cards, letterheads, marketing materials, adverts, etc. also add a signiture and tag line to all your emails. The second group you can address via search engines and links from other sites. Offer to trade links with other sites you know who have a similar target market but are not in competition.

The simplest way to get started on SEO is to use Word Trackerwww.wordtracker.comto find the best words and phrases to optimise the page for (Wordtracker checks all of the searchs for the last 60 days and identifies the ones that are popular but do not have too many competing sites). You can have a free trial from the Word Tracker site. Once you know the phrases you want to optimise for, use Web Position Goldwww.webposition.com批评你的页面nd get recommendations re Title, Description Headings, ALT tags, link text and body text. You can download a 30-day free trial trial of Web Position Gold.

    I hope this helps

    earthdoggy,

Besides the search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising, I would also like for you to consider submitting your products to shopping aggregators like Froogle.

搜索引擎优化和PPC discussion, I did a quick search for some phrases based on your site content and you shouldn't have any problem getting noticed if you can afford a small to modest PPC budget. The page optimization stuff will just take time to get the pages ranked in the top page.

    Hope that helps.
