What Is "spot" In A Tv Program?

Hi,

When we talk about sponsorship in a TV program, what is"spot of 20” at the very beginning of the program"？是口头声明啊fan advertising character about a product, or some other thing?

    Thank you very much! It's gonna be a program dedicated to the art of cookery, and we're planning to participate there as sponsors. The sponsorship package includes verbal ads and our logo (20 seconds) during the program and product placement. I have presented this info to our management and they are asking if we could exchange the verbal announcement to "spot".

    Thank you once again, that's what I've been thinking as well, and actually I don't want to exchange one thing to another, but just to add this spot to the whole concept, if the money permits. If no - then we'll just stay within the sponsorship package.

    StarsDie, A bit of a bigger point here, but I hope it will be helpful. If you are doing TV advertising, and you don't understand what you are being offered, ASK them! YOU are the customer, you are spending a substantial amount of money, DON'T get fobbed off with industry jargon. If somebody uses terminology you don't understand, ask them to explain it. Ask what the benefits are, if you can see some examples, and what the best way of doing it. Don't be worried about appearing ignorant, they should be more than happy to explain everything to you. (If not - save your money!). Never buy anything, including media space/time without knowingexactlywhat your getting!

    Chough, thanks for your piece of advice as well, and I actually don't hesitate to ask about what I'm offered if I have any questions. It's just, the people from TV channel gave me all detailed description and I knew what they've been offering. It's my management asked me if I could use spot instead of sponsorship package and they have already left on Friday right after sending me that email, so I decided to ask here instead of waiting till Monday. I'm not a native speaker and there is of course some terminology I am not sure about.
